Regina’s vision for Tiny Textures started when she met a mother who’d adopted 2 children from Haiti. Their adoptive mother was in tears describing her struggle with styling their hair. She thought she’d use styling as a way to bond with her adoptive daughters and instead this became a point of contention and greatly affected the girls confidence in their appearance. Regina initially offered to come over and teach her how to style her daughter's hair but after creating rapport with the family Regina became like family, visiting twice a month to style the girls hair and teaching the adoptive parents how to care for their hair in between appointments. As their hair grew, so did word of mouth about Regina’s help within the adoptive community in Richmond. Regina realized just how great the need is for such a vital service that not only helps parents who are adopting but parents who are new to styling and caring for natural hair. In turn the children are confident in their hair and their individuality.
